Finborough Summer 2009

Following our 100% pass rate at A level last week, with all of our pupils gaining a place at their first choice universities, we are pleased to announce that the majority of our students have exceeded expectations for their GCSE results.  This year 78% achieved 5 GCSE passes at grade A – C including Maths and English.

Finborough January 09 GCSE and A level results

There were some excellent performances from our S4 and S5 pupils in GCSE modular Science. We are also proud of the results obtained by both the U6 and L6 in A Level modular units.

96% of the S4 GCSE Science results were at grade C or above. Almost 63% of the modular grades were A*-B.

95% of the S5 modular Science results were at grade C or above. Just over 50% of the grades were A*-B.

The U6 A level modular results saw an 87% pass rate with half of those at grades A-C.

The L6 modular pass rate was 93% with 80% of those grades at A-C.

A big hearty congratulation to all our students on these excellent results!

A significant number of pupils improved by two grades or more on their projected scores from underlying IQ indicators.  A good example of this is Rachel Shaw who was projected a C in Art and achieved an A and in French she was projected a D and achieved a B.

Congratulations Rachel.  Another example is James Coathupe who was projected an E in Maths and achieved a C.  Congratulations James.

In English and Maths over 85% of students achieved A*-C grades. There has been an even distribution of the top grades A* to C for boys and girls.  The number of A*s has increased by 3% from last year. A significant reason for this is the outstanding achievement of one pupil, Bethan Haynes.   Bethan achieved 10 GCSE’s, 8 A* and 2 A’s. This is a fantastic achievement, well done.
