GCSE Results Day
We are pleased to report the exceptional achievement of our students at Finborough. Our year 11 students, at the academic vanguard of the schools continued progress have been justly rewarded with a stellar set of grades.
95% of all grades awarded were 4-9 with well over a quarter at 7 or higher, representing strong positive value added, testament to the relentless hard work of our students and their teachers.
This outstanding group of students were not thwarted by a uniquely challenging year, rather they have steadfastly demonstrated their exceptional ‘Learnability’ and been rightly rewarded for their relentless endeavour.
Following an A* Grade for A level Mathematics two years early, year 11 student Tom Bercovici achieved a further nine top grade GCSE’s breaking the schools all time academic record and earning him a place amongst the academic elite nationally. Tom who now joins our sixth form will definitely have a strong chance of achieving a coveted Oxbridge place when he has completed four more A levels in Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and French.
Robin Basu who achieved an A grade at AS Level Mathematics also excelled with all grades 8 and 9 and the highest value added score ever amassed at the school, a measure of both his ability and indomitable work ethic. Robin will also remain with us at Finborough with his sights set on Medicine at university in two years time.
These two young men were at the tip of the iceberg of a very able year group where Danni Ager, Dominic Brown, Mia Brown, Thomas Crabb, Benji Edwards, Matthew Graham, Woody Jackson and Alice Place all achieved right at the top end.
We are incredibly proud of every one of our year 11 students, all of whom have been rewarded with grades which mark their individual success as part of a wonderful collective.
In the same vein of academic achievement the twelve year 10 students entered for GCSE Mathematics a year early have excelled with CJ Trevochka gaining a grade 9, closely followed by Sam Bercovici, Esmee Fox and Sam Heutink each with grade 8 and Toby Clinch and Ellie Schofield securing grade 7’s as part of an advanced group, all of who achieved a grade 5 or higher.
These great outcomes for our students are the clearest measure yet of the incredible work from our excellent teachers and staff. An exceptional team of academic professionals have amplified the schools outstanding culture, orchestrating the opportunity for every young person to be and achieve their best.
The exceptional news last week of Beanie Spain in year 13 achieving a place at Queens College Cambridge to study Veterinary Science with A*A*A grades in her A levels further compounds this wonderful academic ascendence.
It has been an incredible year of achievement at Finborough. These exceptional GCSE grades accompanying the tremendous A levels published last week are not to be overshadowed by the context we have found ourselves in, rather every young person is to be heartily congratulated and celebrated for such great outcomes. These achievements open widely the door for the next stage of their education, where their highly developed “Learnability’ will be the foundation of their continued success as they hold fast to the school’s mantra ‘better never stops’.
