A level Success at Finborough School
At Finborough we are celebrating the achievements of our students at A level.
It is important to highlight that in an unprecedented time, fraught with disruption, everyone of our students completed their courses and underwent a comprehensive assessment process generating irrefutable evidence of their achievement. This alone is to be highly commended, representing incredible industry from both students and their teachers and is justly coupled with a richly deserved set of exceptional grades.
From the cohort of just eighteen upper sixth students all first choice university places have been achieved with a stellar collection of grades, two thirds of which were in the top A*-B range.
Amongst the top achievers were Head Boy George S with AAAB who has secured a place at Loughborough University to study Architecture and Rollo B with AAB who is off to York to study Physics.
The academic ascension of the school has been further confirmed with twelve year 11 and 12 students taking A level or AS level Mathematics a year early with a staggering eight gaining A* or A grades. Amidst this exceptional cohort Tom B added A* in A level Further Mathematics to his A* in A level Mathematics achieved last year, he will be part of a group of students applying for Oxbridge places in October.
Also in year 12, Robin B achieved A* in A level Mathematics setting a firm foundation for his application to medical school in the Autumn, he was flanked by Thomas C and new Head Boy Woody, both securing exceptionally well deserved A grades in the subject.
In year 11, Sam B, Esmee F, Sam H and CJ are to congratulated for achieving the highest grade in AS level Mathematics. Their GCSE results will be published on Thursday, following which places at our sixth form will be confirmed, seeing an incredible growth in numbers to over 70 students at the top end of the school, with an exceptional academic profile.
The results today are a fitting recognition of the outstanding achievements of a deeply resilient group of students who have shown the highest level of fortitude, navigating their way through significant periods of lockdown and online education, demonstrating exceptional ‘Learnability’ and character, supported by their wonderful teachers.
We are all hugely proud of their success and look forward to updates as their life as Finborough alumni unfurls.
