A Victorian School Day
This term Prep 6 were able to spend a fantastic day at Great Cressingham Victorian School as part of their topic learning.
The children had the most inspiring day in the life of a Victorian school child; starting the day dressing the part they then arrived at Great Cressingham and went straight into some traditional learning. The children covered the 3Rs of reading, writing and arithmetic; they listened to stories, created their own lavender bags and drew animal artefacts.
The children were also able to explore the museum and play with the traditional hoops and marbles during play time. They experienced a traditional lunch whilst sharpening slate pencils against the school building just as they would have done in 1892!
All the children had an unforgettable day and were able to reflect on how things have changed for them at school today.
