Chitty Went Off With a Bang!
It was a hectic last week of the Spring Term as over 100 students took to the stage in our whole school performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
This was the debut performance for the new Performing Arts Centre, which was completed at the beginning of the academic year. Over 600 students, parents, friends and the wider community gathered across 3 matinee and 3 evening performances to be wowed by our talented cast of students from Prep 3 to Year 13 as they sang, danced and performed to an impressively high standard. Special mention must go to Ollie King who played Caractacus Potts over all 6 performances honouring the character’s warmth, energy and enthusiasm throughout.
The performances were the pinnacle of over 6 months of hard work across the school lead by our dedicated performing arts team of Mr Bridgeman, Mr Griffin, Mrs Vass and Mrs Lyons. We are so incredibly proud of all the children and young adults who committed to over 120 hours of after-school and weekend rehearsals in order to put on the best performances possible. We are also incredibly thankful to our amazing team of parents and volunteers without whom, the production would not have been possible.
Whilst many of our students are more than familiar with treading the boards, it was wonderful to see the pride and enjoyment of others who were experiencing their first time belonging to a ‘cast’. The confidence that comes from overcoming fears to appear on stage, in front of an audience is invaluable to young people and it was wonderful to watch the pleasure and fulfilment taken by each and every performer. Huge congratulations to everyone involved.
We can’t wait for next year!
