U18 Academy League Rugby Final

On a chilly mid-February evening, three of Finborough’s sixth form students took their places on the pitch to play in the Premiership Rugby Under 18 Academy League final match for their team, Northampton Saints.

Harry Price, 17, Henry Lumley, 17 and Charlie Tamani, 16, all played pivotal roles in the match that saw Saints take the victory at the Kingsholm Stadium against Bath Academy on the 16th February.  The Saints triumphed with a 31-14 victory, finally clinching the win after reaching the final for the past three years.

Harry, Henry and Charlie have all worked incredibly hard to secure their position in the starting team throughout the league that has been played over many months.  Staff at Finborough have supported them with their studies to allow for time out owing to the rigorous training schedule with Northampton Saints.

Following the completion of the Academy League last month, Charlie and Henry were subsequently invited to attend the England Under 18 training camp at England Rugby’s prestigious training facility at Bisham Abbey in Berkshire.  Both pupils are now eligible for selection for the upcoming fixtures against Japan and Ireland, along with potential selection for the Under 18 Six Nations that is being held in Vichy, France, in April.
