Grease lightning comes to Finborough!
Finborough School’s Year 11 and Sixth Form students rocked the stage with their high-energy production of Grease!
Over 50 talented students from Year 11 and Sixth Form at Finborough School recently took to the stage in a high-energy production of the musical Grease, supported by a professional live band. With slick backed hair, leather jackets, big pink blazers, an on-stage car, incredible choreography, and standout vocals, the show was a spectacular success.
Directed by Finborough School’s Teacher of Drama, Mr. Jon Bridgeman, with musical direction by Head of Performing Arts, Mr. James Griffin and choreography by Teacher of Dance, Ms. Lois Scott, the production showcased the diverse talents of Finborough’s students. While some students were seasoned performers, having participated in every show since early prep school age, others stepped onto the stage for the very first time. All embraced the experience, forming new friendships and rising to the challenges of live theatre. Behind the scenes, students played vital roles in stage management, costume, hair and makeup, lighting, and sound.
The show ran from 31st March to 2nd April, featuring three matinee and three evening performances, all to sold-out audiences. Due to popular demand, Finborough School is already planning to add an extra performance night next year.
The performances took place in Finborough’s state-of-the-art theatre, which boasts two dance rehearsal studios, a cutting-edge lighting and sound rig, and a custom-designed space for the live band. This investment highlights Finborough’s deep commitment to the performing arts.

Working on these shows with our teachers, who are all active professionals, helps students build fundamental life skills, from teamwork and time management to public speaking and adaptability.”
Mr. James Griffin went on to say, “The buzz of live performance, particularly when accompanied by a professional band, inspires many Finborough students to pursue further training through our BTEC Performing Arts courses, and beyond into higher education or industry training.”
