Finborough School Nursery Announces Exciting Changes

Finborough School is pleased to announce a significant change to its nursery provision, which will see the school extend its opening from a traditional term-time only, to year round from the 29th July 2025.  Additionally, for the first time in the school’s history, the nursery will be open to babies from the age of six months.

This exciting development further strengthens Finborough’s reputation as a leading Stowmarket nursery, offering high-quality early years education and care in a nurturing, family-focused environment.

This new provision offers families greater flexibility and peace of mind, knowing their little ones are in a safe, nurturing environment while they continue to grow and learn.  Its commitment to offering a well-rounded and enriching experience is further enhanced by the year round opening, ensuring its youngest learners can enjoy a full range of activities, care, and educational opportunities every week throughout most of the year.

The school has also announced the appointment of Mrs. Sarah Ruffles as the new Nursery Manager.  A qualified teacher and seasoned Early Years practitioner, Mrs. Ruffles brings 12 years of experience at Finborough, including a decade teaching Reception classes.  Her internal promotion strengthens the already well-established nursery team, particularly in supporting the developmental and learning foundations that ensure every child is well-prepared—both academically and emotionally—for a smooth transition to Reception when the time comes.

Children in the nursery are seamlessly integrated into the wider school community through regular engagement with the Pre-Prep department.  They benefit from shared, purpose-built facilities within a self-contained area designed for younger year groups that includes adventure play equipment, a woodland Forest School, and a calming mindfulness studio, all of which helps to cultivate familiarity, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging from an early age.

Speaking of the extended provision and the introduction of babies, Mrs. Ruffles commented that, “We are thrilled to be able to offer extended opening hours and a provision for babies to our parent community, many of whom rely on our services while they work.  We know that children benefit from regular and consistent developmental support at what is a vital stage in their learning journey, and so by offering our service to parents throughout the year ensures uninterrupted access to high quality learning activities.”
