Prep Sports Day 2025: A Celebration of Energy, Effort, and Excellence
Under a blazing summer sun and with spirits soaring just as high, Finborough School’s Prep pupils from Years 3 to 6 met on the school’s athletics track for a truly unforgettable Sports Day.
The event was a vibrant showcase of athleticism, teamwork, and sheer joy, with a packed schedule of events that tested speed, strength, and coordination. From the explosive 60m and 150m sprints to the endurance-testing 600m run, the children gave it their all, cheered on by enthusiastic supporters.
Field events added another layer of excitement, with pupils competing in the vortex throw, cricket ball throw, and the ever-popular standing long and triple jumps. Prep 6 pupils also had the opportunity to demonstrate their strength in the shot putt. The target throwing event brought out the competitive spirit in all, while also providing plenty of fun.
The relay races—both the team relay and the 4 x 100m—were a highlight, showcasing not only speed but also coordination and camaraderie. And of course, no Prep Sports Day would be complete without the traditional novelty races. The sack race, obstacle course, and the classic egg and spoon race brought laughter and light-hearted competition to the day.

A special mention must go to the incredible parent support throughout the event. The cheers from the sidelines created a wonderful atmosphere, and the mums’ and dads’ races were a true highlight – featuring some seriously impressive performances and plenty of good-natured competition!
The atmosphere was electric throughout, with pupils, staff, and families all contributing to the vibrant energy that made the day so special. It was a perfect blend of fun and athletic prowess, with every child encouraged to participate and shine.
The grand finale saw Athelstan House crowned champions, lifting the coveted Prep Sports Day Cup in a moment of pride and celebration.
A huge well done to all the children for their enthusiasm and effort, and a heartfelt thank you to the staff and families who helped make the day such a success.
