Finborough School Ski Trip to Italy: A Week to Remember
Finborough School pupils have returned from a fantastic and memorable week in Foppolo, Italy, where they took part in the Forfar Education ski trip alongside students from The Gleddings School and Cameron Vale School. In total, 85 pupils travelled to the Italian Alps, creating a vibrant and supportive group atmosphere from the outset.
Exceptional Progress on the Slopes
Throughout the week, students demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork as they developed their skiing and snowboarding skills. Our beginners made particularly impressive progress; by Day 3, all had advanced onto the main slopes, which was a remarkable achievement after only a short period of instruction. Confidence grew rapidly as they linked turns, tackled longer runs and gained greater control.
There was extensive time on the mountain, allowing pupils to consolidate their skills and explore more challenging terrain with their instructors, who consistently praised the group’s effort and determination. Snowboarders showed significant improvements in balance and control, while advanced skiers, joined by Mr. Clark, embraced more demanding runs with confidence and ambition.
Building Community Across Schools
Beyond the skiing, the trip strengthened a powerful sense of community. Pupils formed friendships across schools, supported one another and celebrated shared successes. A highlight of the week was a special “Finborough Ski Family” lunch at the Montebello restaurant on the final day, providing an opportunity to reflect on achievements and enjoy time together on the mountain.
The behaviour, attitude and commitment shown by our pupils were exemplary throughout. The trip was a tremendous success, providing lasting memories and valuable experiences both on and off the slopes.
