Senior Production ‘Heathers’ a Huge Success
On the last week of the Spring term, the curtain rose on our senior production of Heathers. Students from Years 10 to 13 took part in the show either on, or back stage and embraced what was their most challenging musical yet.
From the first reading of the script to the final weekend of intensive technical and dress rehearsals, the students demonstrated exceptional focus, teamwork, and professionalism. The production, our most technically ambitious to date, received brilliant reviews from parents and audience members, attending one of the 6 standout performances, each supported by a live band.
Tackling a deep, emotional, and demanding storyline, students rose to the challenge, forming strong connections with their characters whilst embracing complex four-part harmonies and fast-paced, high-quality choreography. Students less drawn to the limelight were also actively involved behind the scenes in areas such as lighting, hair, makeup and set design. With hundreds of props, sound and lighting cues, there was little room for error.
Throughout the entire process, we were privileged to witness the growth in confidence, talent and experience of our students who benefited from fantastic support and training provided by the performing arts team, all of whom are active professionals in their fields. This exposure to industry standard productions will assist students looking to enter the tough, competitive but so incredibly rewarding world of professional performing arts.
Huge well done to everyone involved!
