At Finborough, community is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s through charitable giving, local partnerships, or the vibrant work of our Friends of Finborough, we are proud to be a school that gives back, connects, and celebrates together.
Charity & fundraising
Making a difference through charity and volunteering
Each year, our pupils and staff raise thousands of pounds for a wide range of charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Cancer Research UK, and many more. From food bank donations to hands-on volunteering, our community spirit shines through in every initiative.
In 2024, we took on the 100km Challenge, with pupils and staff walking, running, and cycling to reach the distance. Notably, Mrs Walker (Prep School) and Mr Clark (Headmaster) each completed the full 100km in just five days. This followed Mr Clark’s incredible charity marathons across Iceland’s volcanoes and the Polar Bear Ultra across the Greenland Ice Cap.
Volunteering
Finborough is proud to play an active role in the wider Suffolk community. Our popular Duke of Edinburgh Award programme exemplifies this, with the ‘Service’ component encouraging students to give back to the county that gives us so much. In 2025, Finborough was recognised nationally by the Duke of Edinburgh organisation as one of the top schools in the country for pupil progression to Gold level, a testament to our students’ commitment, resilience, and leadership.
Partnerships & collaboration
Building success through collaboration
We believe in the power of collaboration. Our partnership with Plume School in Maldon, Essex is a shining example of this, where we’ve worked together to raise academic aspirations through a joint GCSE revision skills programme. These initiatives help bridge communities and foster shared success.
Friends of Finborough
Celebrating community, events, and parent involvement
The Friends of Finborough is a dedicated group of parents, staff, and supporters who give their time to enhance school life and bring our community together. Two standout events define the Friends of Finborough calendar:
- The Christmas Fair – A magical day for all, featuring festive stalls, performances, and even a visit from Santa… arriving by helicopter!
- Finfest – Our very own summer music festival, packed with live performances, food, games, and fun for the whole family. It’s a celebration of talent, togetherness, and the joy of being part of the Finborough family.
They also provide special treats for the pupil and staff, including a surprise ice cream van turning up at the end of term with an ice cream pre-purchased for all! We are extremely grateful to our parent body for the time and effort they give to make our events extra special! Would you like to support the Friends of Finborough?
