At Finborough School we are committed to providing each pupil with the best preparation for life. We are clear that this will be delivered through a number of different strategies:

1. Recruiting and retaining the best teachers

We have an eclectic group of teachers who bring different life experiences, are from a wide range of countries and are a mix of age groups. Our teachers are involved in wider school life and therefore get a chance to see our pupils in and outside of the classroom. We are investing heavily in their personal development and have introduced an up-to-the-minute performance management system where the pupils also get an opportunity to review their teachers.

2. Providing the best environment

When we say environment we not only mean the location and facilities but also the day-to-day workings of the school. We are investing in our facilities: to date they include boarding accommodation upgrades, a new purpose built art studio, new prep school classrooms and a brand new Apple Mac ICT suite.  In spring 2014 the £2.5 million sports hall development will be complete providing a multipurpose hall for sport, enrichment activities and performing arts.   We all know how frustrating it is when communication breaks down.  We are now able to communicate with our parents via this website which is updated regularly and through our text messaging service, there is also a weekly bulletin which provides essential information for the current week. We are constantly looking at ways to improve but we do still prefer to talk!

3. A commitment to excellence

Our school motto is strive for the highest. This ethos is in everything we do, from a piece of art work to maths homework, to playing for the rugby and netball team or singing in the school choir our pupils are encouraged to give it their all. We have clear standards of dress for all our pupils and we want them to take pride in their appearance. We have an outstanding track record of providing value added education, which simply means enabling your child to perform above expectations.

4. Our culture

Our culture is defined by our school values of honesty, respect and results. These values underpin how we treat each other. They form part of our code of conduct and are key considerations when recruiting teachers and pupils.

We assist each pupil to develop confidence, self esteem and a sense of identity. At Finborough we want our pupils to be themselves and be proud of who they are.

Our values are very important to us at Finborough School and they underpin everything we do.  The children’s behaviour is shaped by them from a very early age and our teachers and staff are recruited and retained using them.   Our values form the basis of our code of conduct, very simply, they are the standards we expect from everyone who is involved with life at Finborough School.

Our values for our children, parents and staff are:

Honesty – “Being fair, open and honest when dealing with themselves and individuals in and outside the school.”

Respect – “Respecting others to create an environment where colleagues and pupils can realise their full potential.”

Results – “Doing what you say you will do to achieve personal and team objectives.”
