Annie Production Set to Take Centre Stage
Excitement is building for the Finborough School Annie production, as pupils from Prep 5 through to Year 9 prepare to bring the much-loved musical to life later this month. With months of rehearsals already underway, the show promises to be a highlight of the school’s performing arts calendar.
Taking on the iconic title role are Annabel and Jazzie, who will share the part of Annie across six performances. Reflecting on her experience so far, Jazzie said:
“Being part of Annie has honestly been one of the best experiences I’ve had at school. Playing Annie is a big responsibility because she’s on stage so much, but it’s also been really exciting. I’ve loved getting to know people from different year groups and working together as a team. Everyone has been really supportive, and our teachers have helped us improve so much.”
Months of Preparation and Dedication
Rehearsals for the production began back in December, following a rigorous audition process that saw more than 80 pupils take part. Each student was required to learn lines and songs, demonstrating both commitment and enthusiasm for the production. Every pupil who auditioned was given a role, resulting in a large and vibrant chorus ensemble that will help bring the story to life on stage.
The show is directed by Becky Vass and Helen Lyons, with choreography by Lois Scott. Together, they have guided pupils through an ambitious rehearsal schedule, supporting them to develop their confidence, stage presence and performance skills.
A Production Built In-House
Adding to the excitement is the impressive set design, which is being created entirely in-house by Finborough’s art and woodworking departments. The team is currently working to construct a dynamic set that transforms from an orphanage into a grand mansion, offering audiences a visually engaging theatrical experience.
Building on Performing Arts Success
The upcoming production follows the success of the school’s recent senior musical, Heathers!, and continues to highlight the strength and breadth of performing arts at Finborough.

“This is our second major production of the year following the success of Heathers! ‘Annie’ is shaping up to be something really special. It has been a joy to watch our students grow in confidence and skill over the course of rehearsals. The energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork they have shown has been fantastic. We are so excited to share all of their hard work with our audiences.”
Performance Dates
The cast will perform six shows over three days from 19th to 21st May, with audiences invited to experience what promises to be an uplifting and memorable production.
As the countdown continues, the Finborough School Annie production is not only a celebration of musical theatre, but also a reflection of the collaboration, creativity and character development that sit at the heart of school life.
