Sun Comes Out for Finborough’s Latest Showstopper

Finborough School’s Performing Arts Department has once again dazzled audiences with its vibrant and heartfelt production of Annie Jr, bringing together over 100 pupils from Years 5 to 9 in a celebration of talent, teamwork, and dedication.
With a cast of more than 80 young performers and a further 20 students working behind the scenes and in technical roles, the production showcased the incredible commitment and enthusiasm of Finborough’s pupils. Rehearsals began in December last year, with students dedicating countless hours to after-school and weekend rehearsals in preparation for the performances.
The show was directed by Mrs Beccy Vass, supported by Mrs Lyons as Musical Director and Miss Scott as Choreographer. Together, the Performing Arts team guided students through the challenge of staging one of musical theatre’s most beloved productions, helping them grow in confidence, creativity, and performance skills throughout the process.
Speaking about the production, Mr Griffin, Head of Performing Arts, said: “It has been wonderful to bring a classic school production known and loved by all generations to the stage at Finborough. The enthusiasm, resilience, and teamwork shown by our students throughout this journey has been truly inspiring.”
Mrs Vass also praised the students for their commitment and energy throughout rehearsals, highlighting the way pupils embraced every challenge, from learning lines and choreography, to supporting one another as a company. She described the production as “something truly special” and celebrated the joy and creativity that the cast and crew brought to the stage.
The success of Annie Jr. stands as a tribute not only to the pupils’ hard work, but also to the passion and dedication of Finborough School’s Performing Arts team, whose commitment continues to provide students with exceptional creative opportunities and unforgettable experiences.
