Year 11’s Cultural Trip to Seville: A Week to Remember!
22 of Finborough School’s Year 11 students recently returned from an extraordinary week in Seville, where they immersed themselves in Spanish language, culture, and history.
From the moment they arrived, the group embraced every experience with enthusiasm. Highlights included cycling through the picturesque Parque de María Luisa, visiting the iconic Plaza de España, and enjoying an authentic flamenco performance that captured the spirit of Andalusia. Students explored architectural wonders such as the Real Alcázar and Seville Cathedral, practiced conversational Spanish at busy local markets, and even experienced the thrills of Isla Mágica theme park during its Halloween celebrations.
Exploring Traditional Seville
The trip also offered unique cultural insights, from admiring traditional craftsmanship at the Ceramics Museum to sampling Andalusian delicacies in renowned local restaurants. A serene river cruise along the Guadalquivir provided a perfect finale, offering stunning views of Seville’s skyline and historic landmarks.
Pupil James Harwood-Hughes expressed his enthusiasm for the trip, and said, “I think this trip was one of the best opportunities to develop my Spanish abilities but it was also a great bonding trip getting to know people better.”
Teacher of Spanish and trip co-ordinator, Sandra Romero, commented, “Throughout the week, our students demonstrated exemplary behaviour, curiosity, and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. They all represented Finborough in every single corner of Seville, and were a credit to the school! Their confidence in speaking Spanish grew remarkably, laying a strong foundation for their upcoming speaking exams.”
