Curriculum
Top Day & Boarding Sixth Form in Suffolk
In the Sixth Form, we offer a broad range of Level 3 courses from the more traditional and academic A Level courses to Technical Awards across Sports, Performing Arts, Business and Media. The diverse set of courses are delivered in the supportive atmosphere of a friendly Sixth Form with small class groups. There is an emphasis on individual attention based upon our excellent teacher-to-pupil ratio.
Most students will select up to four subjects in Year 12; this enables them to keep some breadth to their studies. Students are given advice and guidance to help choose the most suitable combination of subjects and the curriculum is constructed around these options.
The process of choosing starts with our Sixth Form Open evening in Y11 which offers parents and students an opportunity to discuss the courses with teachers and students and see examples of student work. This is followed by one-to-one meetings with students and parents to discuss their chosen pathway and combination of courses. If required, we also meet post GCSE results day, to discuss options as subject preference might change once final grades are received.
“Pupils are supported effectively in making subject choices for GCSE, A-level and vocational courses.” ISI, 2023

‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers’
In addition, all Sixth Formers participate in the prestigious ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers’ course during our Induction Week which provides them with a framework to plan for the future, interact positively with their peers and teachers as well as prioritise their current tasks. This is further developed through the PSHE scheme that is designed specifically for our Sixth Form and our context, helping them navigate through life’s challenges from comparing financial products, to forming new positive relationships and appropriate use of social media to nurture their online image.
