Finborough’s Class of 2025: Academic Excellence and Inspiring Journeys
Finborough School is celebrating a year of outstanding A-Level results, led by high achievers Kevin and Angus, who sat down with Headmaster Steven Clark to reflect on their success.
Our highest achiever this year is Kevin, with a staggering collection of A*A*AA. This is an outstanding collection of results, enabling him to take up his place at his first choice university, at the highly regarded University College London to study Natural Sciences.
Angus who secured a very impressive AAA, has secured a place at Bristol University to study Biochemistry; Angus’s achievement is made even more impressive by the fact that he has taken his exams early, following being moved up a year on entry to Finborough because of his evident academic ability.
Speaking after opening their exceptional results, Kevin and Angus sat with Headmaster Steven Clark to state that the support from teachers was a major factor in their success. Kevin reflected on the power of marginal gains, typically for a mathematician and scientist he highlighted that “1.01 to the power of 365 is significantly higher than 1 to the power of the same amount, it is every day of study that counts!”

Kevin gave advice to students starting Sixth Form: “use all the resources available to you, teachers were very generous with their time.” Kevin’s grades are a representation of his consistent hard work; “both years I worked really hard, every day for that extra bit, in the long run, you’ll go pretty far, that’s what I believe.”
Angus reflected on the incredible support from his teachers, having almost not returned for Sixth Form at Finborough, he was so happy he did.
Angus and Kevin have enjoyed their Preparatory, Secondary and Sixth Form education at Finborough School and both agreed “it’s a big step and feels weird to be leaving.”
Mr Clark asks ‘what would you highlight helped you to get you where you needed to be?’ Kevin says “teachers and all the extra support sessions. The investment and belief in me from the get go.”
What will Kevin and Angus be doing to celebrate? They laugh; “sleep, I didn’t get much sleep last night” says Kevin, and Angus: ‘go out in Norwich I think.”

We wish Kevin and Angus every success as they begin this exciting new chapter at university.
